Dear EAGLES,
I made it home okay. Some of us waited out the storm and then loaded our cars. Kristinn, Jim and I ended up eating at one of the sidewalk cafes and then I dropped them off at their hotel. Thank goodness I had a clean change of clothes cause it sure made the drive home more comfortable.
The positives from today are numerous. 8 months ago there were no Eagles and the moonbats had a monopoly on the streets and the media. This was the most media coverage I've seen, including up in DC. Keep me posted on who and how they used our interviews please on both the TV and Radio.
Their permit said they expected 5,000...to the police they said maybe as many as 25,000. We'll wait for the final official numbers, but my best guess is they had 1,500 in the park and about 500 that marched. We were told there was dissension at their park because folks wanted to start the march earlier, but the organizers wanted to complete the speeches they had promised the speakers. Roughly 2/3 of the people left rather than march in the rain.....wimps.
They ended up canceling over 50% of their march. I drove their march route twice last week and it was 3.2 miles long. I'm not even sure if they went all the way back to their rally point after they passed us the second time, but I know the part west of I-4 was about 1.5 miles....and they didn't even march all the way to I-4. Had they been on time, it wouldn't have rained on their parade.
They marched with no one to greet them today, except the Eagles. They are used to having the streets and the message to themselves. They are learning that the Eagles are their future.
I met a lot of new Eagles today and got to put names to faces, so that was great. I saw lots of folks looking for a particular person they had talked to online, who were very happy to finally meet. Isn't it a great feeling to be in the company of patriots?
We also had some absolutely wonderful entertainment from Lloyd and his friends...whose names escape me cause I'm exhausted. I am so grateful for all they did, going above and beyond the call of duty to get to Orlando to entertain us. All of them want to know all our future Eagle events in Florida so they can attend.
To have Kristinn from DC and Jim from Belize show up for the Florida Eagles was quite a privilege and an honor. I know how much both of them do and feel for our troops and our nation and to come share that with Florida was very special. If any of you are every in DC on a Friday night, make sure you go by Walter Reed in the evening and join Kristinn's Free Republic folks at their Support the Troops Rally at the main gate. You will get so much more out of it than the cost of your time, trust me.
RJ, thank you for helping Myra hold down the fort, especially when the rain came.
"Florida Gang"....thank you for not making me have to bail you out...looking at Denny.....enough said. :-) Maytag (Mike)......great speech, even the Capt is amazed...I can't imagine why!!!. Tommy, thanks for sitting my table and being the "adult supervision" on that side of the park. Boom Boom (Bob), thanks for always being the receptive voice on the other end of the phone, the onsite problem solver and for me, the calm voice in the storm. Boats (Gerry), you made me cry, but only in a good way. I love the song you did with Lloyd and now I understand why Mike and Bob insisted I get Lloyd to play it. Mike and Boats are also responsible for getting me two of the live, on air interviews I did on Friday...way to go guys.
Rev Hawk, please tell your wife you managed to keep the collar on...all day....I think that's a record for you when you're in the company of moonbats. And thank you for the invocation, especially the part about straight sight alignment...from your mouth to God's ears.
Gregg, thank you for coming...on less than 24 hours notice...and then stepping up to fill in on short notice for our speaker who got delayed. You honored us in the process of honoring your son, Justin.
For the rest of the Eagles, thanks go to those who spoke, fetched and carried, held signs at the curb and were loud and proud in the company of the kooks...thank you, thank you, thank you for coming out for our first Florida Eagles event. For my dear friends from the WOT room, Walt and Renee, thanks for driving over and hanging with the Eagles...now give them hell in the room, especially the lib loon losers.
I hope I haven't left anyone out. All the cards I collected got soaked and are drying out in the garage so I'll look them over once I can handle them without them falling apart. Once I get some sleep, maybe I'll have a few more functioning brain cells.
I'm looking forward to seeing pictures and video of the event...hint...hint. I never took the first picture of the day so I'm counting on you all to have documented events.
Thanks to all of you who showed up today and hung in there through the rain.
EAGLES UP!
Deborah
The very proud Co Coordinator of the Florida Gathering of Eagles
